Wrapping up the year

As the year draws to a close, December is the month we think about gifts and giving. At Stag Print we provide packaging for a range of gifts, like candles and soap. But what about the paper that surrounds them? We produce that too! Bespoke planet-friendly wrapping paper, perfect for that personal touch for your customers and colleagues.

Paper waste worries

Decorative wrapping can bring extra colour and joy to the festive season, but do we think about what happens after Christmas day? It is estimated that 227,000 miles of festive paper is thrown away each year. And, unfortunately, not all of it is recyclable. Paper which contains glitter or foil cannot normally be recycled, neither can paper which is laminated in plastic.

How can you help?

The best way is to buy recyclable gift wrap. Whether you use wrapping paper that is 100% paper or look out for FSC® certified paper made from sustainable sources, it all helps. There are other options too, like using newspaper or giving presents in a sack. You could even salvage and re-use your old gift coverings, if removed carefully enough!

Primark bags

Fashion retailer, Primark, has confirmed the return of an innovative and eco-friendly idea that also provides another sustainable solution. Since 2020 Primark has been producing paper bags which can be re-used to wrap presents. The bag features a simple festive striped design which can be cut out and used as extra wrapping. As these bags have no gloss or matt laminate finish to them, they can be easily recycled after the big day. Genius! And if you fancy something more personal to you or your business, simply produce your own. From Christmas trees and wreaths to angels and elves, anything goes!

Do your bit

While the holiday season can get a bad rep when it comes to paper waste, we can all do our part to help the planet by using recyclable alternatives and continuing to spread Christmas cheer! So, if you’re looking for your own environmentally-friendly gift wrapping or packaging, drop us an email for more information.
